Okay… I'm a geek. In fact, given my background as a professional comic book artist, writer, computer consultant and technology trade-show presenter, I'd venture to say I am an uber-geek. The fact that Rob Liefeld once described me exactly as such (both the fact that he described me like that AND that it was Rob Liefeld who did the describing) cements my place in uber-geekdom. But an actua honest-to-god working Tri-Corder… this is just the coolest damn thing I believe I've ever seen. More than that, I have to tip my hat to the geekier-than-me uber-geek who created it.

On January 10th, 2012 Google announced major changes to their search engine that have been rippling out like a tsunami through the business community. “Search Plus Your World”, or what I like to call SPY-W (SPY-Dub for short). This means that when people use Google for search, their results encompass their Google+ connections. The stated goal is to make search more relevant by making the results more personalized; taking into account your social connections. Assume that the underlying motivation is to serve more targeted and more relevant ads, since (like any other company)Google is actually motivated by finding ways to increase profits. More relevant means more clicks; more clicks means more cash.
