Google’s Matt Cutts let slip at the SXSW conference that Google is rolling out new changes to their GoogleBot that will punish sites for being “over-optimized”. In short, for focusing on keywords, rather than content.
One more nail in the coffin of keyword marketing, keyword stuffing, and the importance of keywords in general. If you are doing your own SEO work and focusing on keywords, stop it. If you are hiring it out, make sure your team is up to speed on these changes. Business as usual with regard to SEO isn’t going to help you any more.
